Boerboel

01 / JOINING

Membership and registration.

Do I have to leave my current registry to join the BBA?

No. Many members keep their existing papers. The BBA adds an independent evaluation of temperament, structure and work, recorded on the pedigree.

Does the BBA register dogs of any colour?

Yes. Colour is never a fault at the BBA. Black and tan, chocolate, blue and other less common colours are registered and evaluated like any other dog.

Can I register a dog that already has papers from another registry?

Yes. Add the dog with its existing pedigree, microchip number and, where available, DNA profile. Its ancestors will be linked from our reference database of more than sixty thousand Boerboels.

What does membership cost?

Membership is €120 per year per kennel. Your kennel affix is free with your first annual membership. Each puppy registration (pedigree) is €23. All fees are listed on the Membership page.

Are there extra or urgency fees?

No. The BBA has no urgency fees: every request is handled at no extra cost.

02 / EVALUATION

Evaluation and verification.

At what age can a dog be evaluated?

From 12 months. We recommend 18 months, when structure and temperament are more settled. A young dog that does not reach the minimum score can be re-evaluated later.

How does a video appraisal work?

Send a video of your dog to the BBA. A BBA judge evaluates it and you receive the result, which is recorded on the dog’s pedigree. A video appraisal costs €150 for members and €250 for non-member breeders.

What does the W mark mean?

The dog has passed the BBA working test. The W appears next to its name on every pedigree where it is listed, so breeders can follow proven working lines through the generations.

Who evaluates the dogs?

BBA judges. Every evaluation sheet carries the name of the judge and the date, and the breeder receives the full sheet.

How do I verify a BBA pedigree?

Scan the QR code on the certificate, or enter the registration number on the Verify a Pedigree page.
