THE ASSOCIATION
About the BBA
Built by breeders, for breeders.

WHO WE ARE
Breeders. Not bureaucrats.
The Boerboel Breeders Association is a legally registered association, founded in Portugal and open to breeders worldwide. It was created by breeders for one reason: to recover and protect the working character and functional structure of the Boerboel.
Most associations exist to reassure buyers. The BBA exists to support breeders: the people who make the decisions that shape the next generation. We give them an honest evaluation of their dogs, a registry they control and a standard worth breeding to.
WHAT WE STAND FOR
Function before fashion.
Size, colour and looks are easy to sell. Stable nerves, clear judgement, functional structure and the ability to work are what make a Boerboel. We evaluate the individual dog, and we record what it has proven, not what it looks like.
Colour is never a fault. A dog out of proven parents is judged on temperament, structure and work, whatever its coat.
The BBA does not compete with other registries. Many members keep their existing papers. What the BBA adds is a transparent record of what each dog has actually proven, including the W mark that lets breeders follow working lines through the generations.
Our goal is simple: to preserve the Boerboel as a true working guardian, stable, confident and capable, and to give breeders an honest standard and an association that stands with them.
